4 Easy Ways to Save Money on Your Illinois Auto Insurance
With summer finally here it's time to hit the amusement parks…and the playgrounds…and the hiking trails. And don't forget the beach! You've been waiting all year for the sun to come out to play, and now that it's here it's time to make the most of it. The only problem is, you're going to have to drive there. That makes you think about things like the cost of gas, the cost of new tires and, of course, the cost of your Illinois auto insurance.
While there's not much we can do about the price of gas or the cost of tires (it is tourist season, after all) we can give you some tips for saving money on your auto insurance! Every Illinois auto insurance provider you're going to work has one priority and one priority only, and that's saving money. If they're paying out more in claims you can guarantee you're going to be paying out more in premiums! So, if you want to save money on your insurance coverage you need to figure out new and creative ways to start saving your insurance company money on your coverage.

#1: Cut Your Mileage
The first thing you can do is take a look at the amount of miles you travel each week-and we're not just talking about that trip to the mountains! Insurance companies understand that you're going to be going on vacation in the summer. What your Illinois auto insurance provider is worried about is how often you're exposing your car to the dangers of road rage, bumper to bumper traffic and green lights that turn to red at a moment's notice (so the other drivers claim).
See if you can figure out ways to eliminate your morning commute. Take a bus or a train to work, or start carpooling with friends. By spending less time on the road you're statistically less likely to get into an accident.
Auto insurance companies love that.
#2: Upgrade Your Car's Safety Features
Even though Illinois has cut auto theft by more than 15% in recent years, that doesn't meant that your auto insurance company isn't worried about keeping your car safe. If you want to find a quick and easy way to save 10% or more on your auto insurance look around for cars with some extra security features. Things like power locks, fuel switches, car alarms and GPS tracking systems, which give you a front row seat to watch your car's travel habits, can dramatically decrease the chances your car will be ripped off and dramatically decrease the chances that your insurance company will have to pay to replace it.
#3: Buy a Cheaper, Safer Car
Most people don't think about the cost of their insurance when they're shopping for a new car. They're more worried about the way it looks, the way it runs and, of course, how comfortable the seats are. If you really want to save money on your auto insurance policy that's a habit you're going to have to change. Take a second to swing by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety website and find out how likely your car is to be in an accident. Then, consider how much it's going to cost to replace it. The lower you can get those numbers to go the less you're going to have to pay for your insurance.
#4: Consider the Possibilities
Recent studies showed that most drivers are, in fact, actually paying too much for their insurance coverage. Do you want to know why? Because we're creatures of habit. When we find an Illinois auto insurance company that works for us and can give us the coverage we need at a price we can afford we usually stick with them. We renew our policies year after year. It's good business, right?
For your insurance carrier maybe. For you it's a virtual guarantee that you're going to be paying too much for your insurance coverage.
Let me explain. A recent study done by another quote service much like this one showed that when insurance companies bring in new clients they do it by offering them rock bottom auto insurance rates. To they offer those rates to their renewing drivers. Not usually. In fact, most insurance companies actually raise the rates on their renewals, and we follow along because it's easier than hunting around for another insurance provider with a better price.
Ladies and gentlemen, the hunt is afoot! With the Internet at your disposal shopping for auto insurance quotes is as easy as the click of a mouse button, and within a half an hour you can have quotes from most of the major auto insurance providers in the U.S. sitting at your fingertips, all begging you to let them save you money on your insurance coverage.
Who can say no to that?
