It's Not a Myth-Cheap Auto Insurance in Chicago Does Exist!

Let's face it, you've got enough to pay for when you're living in the Windy City. Wouldn't you love to get a little of your own back?
There are four things your auto insurance provider looks at when they're figuring out the cost of your auto insurance:
a) You
b) Your Driving Record
c) Your Vehicle
d) Your Insurance
Whether you spend your days tooling around town in a BMW, a tractor trailer or a Harley, you're going to have to understand how these things affect your premiums before you can discover the secret to de-mything cheap auto insurance.
First and foremost, you'd be amazed at what your auto insurance provider will give you a discount for these days. The rings on your fingers, the bells on your toes, the hoop in your noseā¦
Okay, not really.
Your auto insurance provider will, however, take things like where you work, how old you are and what organizations you belong to into consideration when they're thinking about how much they're going to charge you for your insurance coverage. For example, Chicago teachers have a better chance of finding cheap auto insurance than a chef or an artist. Why? Statistically, teachers have fewer accidents.
Younger drivers, on the other hand, have more accidents. People who live in Chicagoland rather than in the heart of the city have farther to drive to work and therefore are more likely to have to file a claim. On the other hand, they're more likely to have driveways and garages that can keep their cars off the street at night.Tiny things about yourself can affect your chances of finding cheap auto insurance when you're a Chicago resident.
Your driving record probably needs no explanation. It's not necessarily true, but your insurance provider assumes that if you've had one accident you're more likely to have another. Follow the rules of the road, and resist the urge to give that lead foot a try when you're flying down I-90. Very little stays on your driving record for longer than five years, so if you keep your record clean for five years you can get rid of all those pesky little black spots that are making your insurance rates climb-not to mention be first in line for a five year good driver discount!
If you're driving a Lexus rather than a Civic, or a Harley rather than a scooter, you're going to be paying extra money to insure it. Why? Because it costs your insurance company more to replace it! You can balance out this extra cost by buying a car with plenty of safety features that will minimize the damage in an accident and send would-be thieves fleeing from the scene of the crime when they realize they're never going to get away with it. Installing basic safety features on your vehicle can save you up to 20% on your auto insurance premiums.
Finally, there's your insurance. Take it. Really. But keep in mind you're going to pay for it! A car covered by the minimum amount of liability insurance required by the state and nothing else is going to cost considerably less to insure than a car with, say, collision and comprehensive coverage and emergency roadside assistance; however, you're going to be grateful for the extra coverage the first time a pair of Geico squirrel wannabes come and rain on your parade.
The bottom line? Cheap auto insurance in Chicago isn't a total myth. Even in the hustle and bustle of city life there are ways to shave money off your premiums and give you the coverage you need at a price you can afford-no matter what that price happens to be.
