When Shopping for Auto Insurance Quotes is Too Much Trouble
We all live 28 hour a day lives in a 24 hour a day world, which makes it no surprise that shopping around for auto insurance quotes can turn into too much of a hassle. Really, who wants to spend hours on the phone or surfing the web when watching "Desperate Housewives" (ABC's number one show last season) is a much better way to unwind in the hour or two of free time you manage to carve out in a day?
It's not quite that simple. But then, is it ever? The catch is, if you decide you

Living on a Prayer-Driving Without Auto Insurance
When Bon Jovi wrote "Living on a Prayer" he probably didn't have driving without auto insurance in mind, but he could have. All you can do is keep your fingers crossed and drive on faith when you decide shopping for auto insurance quotes just isn't worth your time.
Here's the thing. The courts are disinclined to acquiesce to your request if you show up and ask for a free pass after an accident because you don't have insurance. They're still going to expect you to pay for the accident. If you're driving without insurance, you're going to have to pay it out of pocket. That includes:
· Damages to other cars, trucks, planes, 4-wheelers and mopeds involved in the accident.
· Damages to public or private property during the course of the accident, including the storefront window you crashed through and the guardrail you took out to get there!
· Everyone else's medical bills. The new health insurance program hasn't gone into effect yet. There's still a chance that whoever you have in the car with you, and whoever's driving the other car, is going to be among the 42 million Americans living without health insurance. Have you seen what they're charging for a friendly jaunt to the emergency room these days?
Don't forget to tally in the fine from the DMV. Some states don't give you the option to skip the whole "shopping for auto insurance quotes" process. Some say, "Hey, you want to risk your financial future by driving without insurance, that's your business-but we're going to make sure you pay for it." If you live in a state that allows you drive uninsured, you're still going to pay a hefty fee for the privilege when you renew your registration. Virginia charges $500 a pop. What's your state charge?
Never Accept a First Offer
Driving without auto insurance isn't the smartest thing you've ever done. The question is, is it any smarter to just take the first offer that comes your way?
Any savvy bargain hunter will tell you that a first offer is just a starting point for negotiations. You don't want to pay thousands of dollars to cover an accident out of pocket, but you don't really want to pay too much for your auto insurance month after month either. By shopping around, you can let competition work for you and haggle your way down to the lowest auto insurance quotes in the biz.
