"Free" Car Insurance Quotes Anything But? Is it a Conspiracy, or Is Your Credit to Blame?

How many country music fans do I have out there? Don't be afraid to raise your hand. You're in good company! If you love country music, you already love Brad Paisley's "The World"…and you already have the inside scoop on why your "free" car insurance quotes are anything but!

Wait. Wait wait wait wait wait. Brad Paisley's been up there singing about car insurance the whole time?

Relax. Not even the current country king of parasite prevention is that smooth! No, he was up on that stage singing his heart out to his ladylove, just like you thought. He was also talking about the fact that these days, in so many ways, we're all nothing more than a number on a page-and that includes the people hooking you up with those free car insurance quotes!

When it comes to your car insurance quotes there are four numbers your insurer cares about:

1) The number of accidents you've had in the last five years.

2) The number of points, positive and negative, on your driver's license.

3) Your zip code, and

4) The three digit number that passes for your credit score.

I know. I do. It's yet another company judging your personal worth based on whether or not you've ever gotten behind on your credit card payments. I feel your pain. You'd think eventually, someone would figure out that just because you can't always keep up with your due dates doesn't mean that you can't handle yourself behind the wheel.

States are fighting against it. Sooner or later your credit score isn't going to

matter. Until then, however, your "free" car insurance quotes are going to be anything but!

Since your car insurance is usually the least of your worries if your credit score is below par, I'm going to skip the usual spiel on what you can do to keep those free car insurance quotes as low as possible (you'll find that information elsewhere on our site!) and skip straight ahead to what you can do to get your credit score back under control!

First and foremost, pick the credit card that has the best interest rate and tuck it into the back of your wallet. Have a bonfire party with the rest of them! It doesn't matter whether you burn them, shred them or slice and dice them, you need to take them out of commission. The average American has between $5,000 and $10,000 in credit card debt, and those bills aren't doing you any favors. Pay off your bills, and keep a low balance on the card you keep.

Then, get the rest of your bills caught up. Late bill payments and an overload of debt are what's killing your credit score. Get those back under control and while you'll still be a number to your car insurance company, at least it'll be a number you can live with!
