Slogging Through Piles of Paperwork Will All Be Worth It When You're Rockin' the Rates on Your Georgia Car Insurance

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day when I came to what probably shouldn't have been a startling conclusion but still knocked me for a loop. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of drivers cruising around on the U.S. highways every day of the week who don't have the first clue what their agent has written in the hallowed pages of their Georgia car insurance policy. They know they have insurance. If they're even a little insurance savvy they know they have the 15/30/10 minimum required by Georgia law. But they don't have a clue what the fine print on their policy says.

Or how reading that fine print can pave the way to amazing car insurance rates.

It Pays to be Informed

We live in the information era. As a matter of fact, thanks to the Internet most of us have a little TOO much information at our fingertips for our own good! (I

had to go see my doctor a few months ago, and he had some definite opinions on how the Internet is making hypochondriacs out of all of us!) Knowing that information is one of our most invaluable resources, why would you willingly walk into the ring with your Georgia car insurance company without it?

Knowing the ins and outs of your car insurance coverage does a whole lot more than give you the resources you need to save your bacon after you've been in an accident (although it does that too). Having the information you need on how your insurance works and what's affecting your Georgia car insurance rates can go a long way toward tucking that money back in your pocket where it belongs.

The Basics

Of course, it's all very well to say that you need to read your car insurance policy. It's quite another to actually try and wade through all the legal-ese to figure out exactly what your agent's trying to tell you. Sooner or later you're probably going to have to get your Georgia car insurance provider on the phone and ask them a couple of questions, but here are a few notes to get you started:

1) There are four basic kinds of coverage-liability, comprehensive, collision and uninsured motorist. If you're a savvy driver, you'll make sure you've got all of them.

2) Discounts are the key to saving money on your insurance. Make sure you're not missing out on anything you and your car are entitled to. It's amazing what can save you money.

3) Remember, when you're talking car insurance rates with your Georgia car insurance provider it's all about relative risk. The less risk you are, the less you're going to pay!

Nobody enjoys wading through the pages of their insurance policy, but the money you can save on your premiums and the embarrassment you can save by knowing what your coverage does and doesn't cover are well worth an afternoon or two of aggravation. Just set your eyes on the prize and think about what you'll do with the money you'll save.

A week spent baking in the sun, far away from the fast approaching winter snows, is enough to motivate just about anyone!
